Smart vs. Smartass

I figured it out tonight. Why do people hate lawyers? One reason is that lawyers tend to be smartasses. No one likes a smartass. Confident is good; cocky is not; knowing when to shut up appears to be impossible for some, i.e. being a smartass. So here is a tip to all my faithful readers: smart is good; smartass is not.

Here's hoping I fall into the former and not the latter.
