Indy Cultural Tidbits: Cars, Strawberrys, Italians, Russians Oh My!
There's more than corn in Indiana!
Thursday June 9th: Christ Church Cathedral's 40th Annual Strawberry Festival. Ice cream and strawberries on Monument Circle form 8:30 am 6pm. It is yummy trust me on that. The Works is still $5.
Thursday June 9th: Concerts on The Canal from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Dixie Power Trio located at the Indiana Historical Society across from Military Park and the law school. On Friday for lunch they have a jazz band too.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: Goodguys Hot Rod Nationals at Raceway Park. Hot rods and quarter miles. Need I say more?
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: Middle Eastern Festival at St. George Orthodox Church at 4020 N. Sherman on the east side. Last year might have been more fun if I had company and wasn't dodging rain. I'm willing to give this one another try. $3 to get in. Be Middle Eastern for a day.
Saturday and Sunday: Italian Festival at Holy Rosary Catholic Church just east of the Lilly Corporate Campus downtown. Admission free from 5 - 11 pm. Food, beer (besides Peroni), Catholic procession parade, Italian music and dancing. Be Italian for a night!
Saturday and Sunday: 50th Talbott Street Art Fair. This was so cool last year! I seriously splurged. I want another dragon seeing how I broke mine last year. Located in the Herron Morton neighborhood next to the old Herron School of Art building on 16th St a little east of Meridian St. Free admission.
Sunday June 12th only: 13th Annual Russian Festival at Clowes Hall on the Butler campus. Russian cuisine, crafts and art starting at 5pm. Tchaikovsky starts at 8pm. Tix $20 unless you're a student or senior citizen, then $10. Make your poverty work for you!
